The pathway

This easy trail takes place largely on the remains of an old forest track that connected the headquarters of Gambarussa with that of Medau Monte Nieddu, that today they both belong to the Fo.re.s.t.a.s. Agency. The trail crosses an area rich in woods that offers some beautiful views to the south.

Once the locality of s'Arcu 'e Chiccu Locci is reached, is possibile to connect with the D 214 trail that goes down from Is Pauceris Mannus towards Gambarussa/Is Antiogus/Fanebas (S.P.1).

Once Medau Monte Nieddu is reached, the trail crosses the D 201 trail (destination Is Cannoneris) the D 207 (destination Tuppa Granella) and, then the D 210 (destination Punta Maxia, Is Alineddus).

WARNINGS AND ADVICE

Along the way, through the valleys, there will be no telephone signal, so it’s better not to venture alone, and be accompanied by experienced people.

Along the S.P.1, however, Fo.re.s.t.a.s. has indicated the telephone reception points with appropriate signs. In addition, along this trail once the highest altitudes are reached, with greater visibility, such as Is Pauceris Mannus top or s'Arcu Chiccu Locci, a minimum of cell phone reception will be available.

During particularly intense weather events, the conformation of the area makes these trails particularly dangerous from a hydrogeological point of view.

The cistus, and more generally the growing vegetation, could make difficult to identify the passage in some parts, is therefore recommended to equip yourself with maps and/or GPS tracks.

The travel times and the altitude profile do not change significantly in both directions of the trail. In the opposite direction, from Mount Nieddu to Gambarussa, the total uphill difference is slightly lower, 45m vs. 550m.

Roadbook

Take Bidda Mores river bed valley floor. The trail, rather wide, is sometimes upset by past floods. Near some olive trees on the right are the ruins of a sheepfold. Continue on the valley floor, starting to climb gradually and keeping on the left the Canale Tuvus.
