PREMESSE
This website is an experimental and informative product (in the form of an online-catalog of the best trails of the Regional Hiking Network of Sardinia, registered or in pre-registration status).
SardegnaSentieri allows everyone to take a look inside the "Regional Trails Register" established by Regional Law 16/2017 and managed according to the Regional Technical Regulation approved with the Regional Council Resolutions: 48/36 of 02.10.2018, 23/80 of 22.06.2021 and 28/1 of 24.08.2023.
The portal is currently online evolving from "beta-testing" as already represented in the Logo in the header of the portal, which reports and recalls the concept with the wording "Beta" or "beta version".
Geo Data
The geographic data displayed on SardegnaSentieri are the result of the specialized work of the staff of the former Sardinia Forestry Agency (now Fo.Re.S.T.A.S. Regional Agency) of the partner bodies (Municipalities, Provinces, GAL, Parks and Natural Reserves...) or of external suppliers, as indicated in the detailed sheets of the tracks. However, they may present inaccuracies and defects in the format and accuracy, for which the warnings in the introduction and what is reported below apply.
Some contents come from the world of Open Source and Open Data, from Web 2.0 (Social or Collaborative Internet) and all the data are released with an open license of the CC type: the orientation is therefore to return the contents to the same environment in the same ways (the so-called Copyleft with Creative Commons SA-NC-BY license) and progressively indicate for which contents this form of diffusion is not explicitly foreseen. Typically the photos are not released in CC with the exception of those owned by the Forestas Agency.
The reference definition for the Sardinian Trails Trails is well represented by the homonymous entry viewable on Wikipedia, as well as in the REGIONAL TRAIL REGULATION that derives from the Regional Law n.16/2017 that established the RES (Sardinian Hiking and Cycling-Hiking Network) and the RIS (Sardinian Horse Trail Network).
The data relating to the Sardinian Trails, which the Region has entered in the official register kept by the Regional Department of Tourism, are those provided by the entities managing the trails themselves: these are "itineraries" or proposals for visiting the territory using heterogeneous routes (both by type: trail and not) and by surface (asphalt, dirt, etc ...). They are provided as they are for the sole purpose of showing their overlap and interconnection with the official network of Sardinian trails (RES).
About the informations published on this website
The display of the trails has only a demonstrative value of the potential of the Regional Hiking Network and cannot be guaranteed in absolute terms either the passability or the safety on the trails themselves, for the sole fact that they are represented on the interactive map of the website.
Furthermore, some of the trails present involve particular difficulties and it is preferable to travel them with specialized guides or expert companions, without prejudice to the above.
The Fo.Re.S.T.A.S. regional agency declines all responsibility for any damage to people or things that may arise from the use of a trail displayed on the site: therefore, anyone who travels a trail must do so by organizing the excursion without relying exclusively on the information presented on these pages.
WHAT IS MEANT BY "VALIDATION STATUS"
Each trail published on SardegnaSentieri is associated with a validation status; with this wording we represent the level of reliability of the track and the (relatively indicative) safety of the Trail.
A trail can therefore have a quality level which, in decreasing order, will be tagged from the top level ("certificated") towards the lowest (and least reliable) level...
DESCRIPTION AND CLASSIFICATION OF PATHS AND USE OF THE ROUTES
- basic knowledge of the correct frequentation of the mountains, of the woods, of the hiking trails, is the essential premise for the correct use of the suggested routes;
- the hiker is required to respect the places, the flora and fauna, of the things and objects (artifacts, signs, vertical and horizontal signs, picnic areas, springs, handrails etc ...): any incorrect behavior will be prosecuted according to the Law;
- It must always be kept in mind that much of the information contained in the SardegnaSentieri site concerns potentially dangerous activities (or in any case characterized by an intrinsic level of risk) that may require the intervention and / or assistance of specialized guides and the use of materials and equipment suitable for use;
- this website reports, for each trail, a detailed sheet, which experimentally classifies the trails according to a standard classification (that of the CAI, the italian alpine club): the information on travel times, on the degree of difficulty, on the difference in altitude, on the length, are to be considered indicative & experimental.
ABOUT GPS-GPX TRACKS
- The downloadable gpx-tracks from SardegnaSentieri are to be considered indicative only; usable as one of the many tools that technology makes available for the promotion and visualization on the web of the proposed routes;
- in no case are they such as to replace or integrate the knowledge of topographic and hiking maps nor are they a substitute for the typical tools for orientation in the mountains;
- knowledge of your own GPS device, testing its functioning with the GPX files downloaded from SardegnaSentieri to preliminarily verify their compatibility and usability with your GPS device, are essential prerequisites for the hiker who intends to use the downloadable GPS tracks as a mere aid (and not the only orientation tool) for the planned excursion;
- in no case is the accuracy of the GPS tracks downloadable from the site, nor of the damages that may arise to users and/or third parties from the use of the same not supported by other aids or guides;
- the GPS tracks available on this site have the sole purpose of enriching the descriptions of the itineraries, but in no case can they replace knowledge of the place, the availability of hiking maps, the ability to orientation required to plan the excursion, also in relation to environmental and physical-athletic conditions;
- the GPS tracks are to be understood, therefore, merely as additional information and a complementary part of the route descriptions; the choice to use the GPS tracks provided on this site falls under the total and exclusive responsibility of the user.
