Portixeddu Forestry site - S'arroga de Is Barraccas (D-304B)
The pathway
Roadbook
You start behind the house that serves as the Forestas headquarters.
You turn right and then head east through the pine grove along a track, until you pass near a sign very close to trail 304A. Here you bear south again, for a short stretch walking directly on top of a puddinga bed before leaving the track.
You begin to climb up sandy ground along a path that leads into the scrub. With an undulating course, you visit a fascinating environment where low vegetation has colonised the dune. After about 1.5 km from the start, you come across the first reinforced concrete bunkersbuilt during World War II. Some of these forts bear inscriptions inside of the soldiers garrisoned there.
The trail starts to climb again with some stunning views of the coast and the valley of San Nicolò, with the mines marking the landscape. This is a long, gently upward sloping ridge.
You reach the base of the large dune called "S'arroga de is Barraccas" at the link with trail 304C, which allows you to cross it and move on to 304A . Continue on the right, slightly downhill, until you return to the road, the old provincial road used by trail 304.
