Portixeddu Forestry Site - Arcu su Ludragu (D-304A)
The pathway
Roadbook
This route starts from Forestas site on the beach of San Nicolò. Behind the little house, there is a track which you take, heading left.
You cross the pine grove and return to the road, then go through the reforestation area on a track that is always easy to follow, heading slightly uphill. After about 700 metres, the trail passes very close to the 304B, and then continues uphill to a hut where you turn sharply south.
Once past the hut you proceed along a track and then a trail, climbing steeply and passing by a huge juniper tree until, at the top of the climb, you reach sandy ground. A fence on the right indicates a conservation area for Dianthus morisianus, the Moris Carnation, studied here at the University of Cagliari.
You come to an intersection with the connecting trail 304C which allows you to visit the large dune below, which also leads to trail 304B. You continue slightly uphill, with the fork leading to the old watchtower on your left.
Heading along the track for a few dozen metres, you reach the old provincial road (trail 304), recently tarmacked, at Arcu su Ludragu.
