Filareddus – Muru Mannu waterfall (D-109)

Roadbook
Start in the Cuili Mannu locality, near the junction with Trail 113, taking a wide mule track on the left that passes through a young wood. Several dry stone enclosures along the trail are evidence of the old pens built by shepherds and pig farmers who came to these areas during the acorn grazing period. The route continues on a gentle slope, keeping to its left the bank of the Riu Cannisoni stream.
Continue down to the bottom of the valley, fording the stream for the first time and passing to its left bank with perhaps some difficulty, then crossing it again near a nice narrow point where the stream forms a large pool. From this point on, the trail could be greatly affected by the stream flow.
Continue slightly uphill, staying to the right of the stream (i.e. walking along its true left bank) and following what remains of an old mule track through the scrub. An opening in the vegetation offers a splendid view of the Muru Mannu waterfall where you can clearly distinguish the black mark left by the falling water. Once past this panoramic spot, the mule track turns into a trail that descends again to the bank of the stream, fording it once more and reaching the confluence with Rio Linas, surrounded on both sides by small waterfalls.
Warning! Section for Experienced Hikers (EE)
Go up the stream channel to the left in the forward direction, climbing along a ledge along the left bank of the stream, then fording it with some difficulty and following a traverse at the end of which you will find a large natural amphitheatre cluttered with boulders carried by floodwater, and dotted with sparse hollies. The waterfall is now very close. As you emerge from the vegetation, you will come upon the high dark wall from which the water tumbles down from a height of over 70 m. After visiting the waterfall, you need to carefully retrace your steps back to the trail start point.
