Tiscali – Campu Donianigoro (B-480)
The pathway
Roadbook
It starts in the majestic rocky amphitheatre interrupted by the rift that leads to Tiscali, known as Sa Carpidura. Proceed uphill on the right, skirting the faces until you reach the edge of the ridge on a trail, with sporadic views of the surrounding area. A slight descent between allows you to reach the pass of Arcu 'e Doronè.
In the pass you meet up with trail 480A which brings you back to Doloverre going around Mount Tiscali. At the pass you also come across a charcoal-makers’ mule track, following it downhill in a southerly direction via wide hairpin bends.
You cross the riverbed of Badde Doronè, starting steeply uphill again over mule tracks through a young forest. You exit the woods at Praiche 'e Antonette, with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the far-off Lanaitho. Still uphill, you head in a southerly direction, keeping just below the ridge line, until you cross it in an easterly direction, bypassing a small thalweg. The path turns south again, gradually descending until it reaches the vast plain of Donianigoro near a stand of Montpellier maples. These grew here amid the remains of a vast protohistoric village on the northern edge of the beautiful plain, a sort of mirage in Supramonte.
Now on the vast plateau, you leave the branch-off for trail 482 on your right, proceeding south-west along the edge of the field. From the top of a cliff you can spot the outline of Nuragheddu Doinanicoro. Continue to the edge of the plain, where you come to the intersection with trails 440C and 440.
