Mesattas – Su Praicarzu (B-482B)
The pathway
Roadbook
The trail starts in Mesattas, not far from Cuile Cucuttos. Heading right, in a south-westerly direction, you follow a shepherds' path, which is mixed underfoot with rocks and winds through junipers and scrub. After a few minutes of walking you begin to descend gradually, until you reach the bottom of a thalweg with large natural reservoirs partly adapted by man. After descending a few dozen metres down to the rocky shores, where particular care is required, you climb up the opposite bank. The trail begins a gentle, gradual climb.
Passing a small stone wall with a hedgerow of juniper, you arrive at a clearing from where you can admire the impressive Cuile 'e Eranu di Su Praicarzu, recently restored. From here you follow a clearly marked path that descends gradually, with beautiful views of Lanaitho and the area of Doloverre, while in the countryside below you can spot the remains of numerous other sheepfolds that made up the pastoral complex. After one last climb you arrive in a gravelly thalweg covered by a young holm oak wood, where you can return to trail 480A.
