The pathway

Trail 700 starts from Via Bonn in Quartu S. Elena near a school, crosses the intersection with trail 704, crosses a small bridge and heads towards Viale Colombo. Through gate 19, the trail continues, bordering the salt evaporation ponds until it reaches the Rollone pumping station and the Ricovero dei forzati (Convict Workers’ Barracks).

It runs along the canal and the Via del Sale, passing a World War II bunker and, crossing the bridge, reaches the entrance to the park at the car park at La Palma in Cagliari.

This is an ‘urban’ itinerary, falling within the Regional Nature Park Molentargius-Le Saline.

The trail is suitable for both walking and cycling and (from the intersection with trail 700A to the entrance at La Palma) it can also be travelled on horseback.

WARNING: ROUTE and SIGNS ARE BEING INSTALLED: the route is new, and the signs are undergoing final inspection for registration in compliance with the Regional Technical Rules for RES (Sardinia Trail Network).

N.B. - THE ROUTE ORIENTATION is from the Quartu end of the perimeter of the Nature Park, to the Cagliari-La Palma end.
