The Quirra River is a torrent that flows between the municipalities of Jerzu, Tertenia, the exclaves of the municipalities of Osini and Arzana, and Villaputzu.
Its source is located in Jerzu; the river flows in a south-southeast direction, passing a short distance from the town center of Tertenia, channeled between the Ogliastra 'tacchi' (heel-shaped limestone formations) and the Monte Ferru forest complex (875 m).
After a course of approximately 40 km, the watercourse, overlooked by the ruins of the Castle of Quirra, flows into the Tyrrhenian Sea, in the territory of Villaputzu.
