Roadbook
After parking your car in the rest area next to the entrance to the Curadoreddu forest and after walking a few metres, you will find on the left (with your back to the SS 392) signs for trail 401 (formerly “trail A”), which begins with a forest track through the pine wood, leading to ORGANICA, a museum of environment-themed visual arts in the Limbara Park. The CEDAP (Centro per la Documentazione sull’Ambiente e sul Paesaggio, Centre for Environmental and Landscape Documentation) exhibition space (closed during the winter months) is a small gem of contemporary architecture designed by architect Menicucci, not far from the Rio Pisciaroni natural pools.
Leaving the museum to your left, you will take an uphill path, well signposted with white and red posts, towards the Forestas Agency’s building and the entrance to the wildlife centre.
The trail continues alongside a large enclosure created to host mouflons (if you walk slowly and quietly, you might spot some!).
After slightly less than 2 km, you will reach the junction, in the Fossu Lu Pisciaroni locality, from which trail 404 (formerly “trail D”) branches off, crossing the stream on a small wooden bridge.
Having crossed the small bridge (recently restored by Forestas), turn left and continue eastwards towards Oltu di Li Pomi (intermediate stop point) while gaining elevation and admiring the beautiful waterfalls, which are most impressive in winter and also in spring, which the route passes by. Take great care when approaching the waterfalls.
After reaching a height of 950 m asl and travelling about 1.3 km from the junction of trail 401, you will get to a second junction, in Lu Coddu d’Abbafritta locality, from where the secondary trail (404A) branches off, connecting trail 404 with trail 405. For these other trails, refer to the relevant cadastral records that will be published in this section.
Continue walking, crossing a small bridge, for another 1.2 km uphill and downhill until you reach the Oltu di li Pomi (potato garden) locality, at the junction with trail 401 (formerly A): turn right to go back to Curadureddu, or turn left to go towards Punta Bandera. Continue straight ahead towards South/South-East. You are 10 minutes away from Valliciola, which you will reach after crossing a forest track.
