Monte Corrasi – Scala S’Arenarzu (B-402)
The pathway
Useful informations
Roadbook
The route starts from the small field at the foot of Punta Corrasi, proceeding in a southerly direction between huge fractured rocks in which ancient specimens of yew survive: the whole area is renowned for the richness of its endemic species. You walk on a fairly evident path, over open ground, across low aromatic garrigue. In some points the track edges closer to the cliff face, with beautiful views of the valleys and the Barbagia.
Near a small saddle you come to a crossroads with trail 404. You continue in a southerly direction, slightly downhill past widenings in the path, leaving the branch-off for the Brunc'arvu sheepfolds on your left. The descent eases slightly and the path begins to lead from time to time under large holm oaks often frequented by mouflons, at Punta Cateddu, after which it descends steeply, through the woods, entering the area of Orgosolo.
After Punta Cateddu the narrow path descends steeply, entering the area of Orgosolo and then skirting the huge field at Ala Segnora where mouflons can often be seen. You keep to the right, entering the thick woodland with slight ups and downs until you almost reach the edge of the rock faces that mark the border of Supramonte of Orgosolo, then you climb steeply. After a few steps along the ridge, where there is a beautiful natural arch that frames the path you've just walked, you reach the dirt road of Scala S'Arenarzu, where you also join trail 442.
