The pathway

The trail starts in Sa Spindula (210 m a.s.l.) at the parking area in the valley, and climbs gradually along the homonymous Rio, which crosses this lush valley. The trail continues alternating open and panoramic sections to points under the forest, with parts on a rocky bottom near the beautiful waterfall.

Beyond the waterfall the trail proceeds gradually uphill, until reaching the locality Paddera (617 m above sea level) used by many as a point of ascent to the peaks of Monte Arcosu (this trail, not signposted, is more challenging).

The D 211 trail, that crosses other trails, ends at the source of the river Is Frocciddus (is Lacchitus) at the crossroads with the D 204 trail - an hour and a half from Case Perdu Melis or, in the other direction, about two and a half hours from the visitor center of the WWF (Sa Canna).

Useful informations

WARNING

Some sections of the path may be partially closed or hidden by vegetation, especially cistus, and may be difficult to walk, especially for non-expert hikers with no GPS track.
Some sections present some exposed passages, with a walking surfaces wide enough for the easy passage, but in case of rains or particularly wet days they can be very slippery, increasing the risk of falls on slopes. On the plot there are some unauthorized cables and ropes, which you should definitely not rely on.
This trail, like many others due to the orographic conformation of the area of Gutturu Mannu, can become impractical, not fordable or even dangerous in case of heavy rains.

GETTING THERE

From Cagliari - by car - follow the SS 130 until the exit for the Industrial Zone, reach the S.P. 2, drive for about 9 km (follow the signs that lead to the Hotel Monte Arcosu), then turn slightly left, on a paved and then dirt road that enters the valley of Sa Spindula; keep driving straight until the road reaches a large area, almost on the bed of the creek, where to park the car start the D 211 trail.
