This path is largely comprised of a forest trail that skirts the edge of cultivated fields and the dune pine forest.
Only the last section consists of the via Monte Airatu road. The trail starts near Lake Baratz, on the provincial road and follows a forest track with an average width of about three metres that can be easily covered on foot, on mountain bike or horseback.
You arrive in a large car park area where the view opens up over the beautiful Porto Ferro beach and from here you can continue along the coast path. The track winds through a thick forest of stone pine with clearly visible specimens of typical Mediterranean maquis such as mastic, Mediterranean dwarf palm and different species of cistus.
With a sharp eye and a little luck you’ll also be able to spot the animal species that live in this area: from various species of lizards to Hermann’s tortoises, from buzzards to kestrels, from hares to wild rabbits.
