The route starts from Maidopis, at the bridge over the rio su Pressiu and, skirting the Botanic Garden, starts climbing first along a dirt road and then on a trail. For a good part of the first ascent, approximately the first 1100 m of the route, the trail runs alongside the stream: here, especially in winter or after heavy rainfall, some stretches of path can be partly flooded and you may have to wade through the small stream at various points, using stepping stones or convenient crossings. You continue climbing up, until you arrive after about 2 km at the large plateau of Acqueddas, where the vegetation is sparser and numerous vantage points offer fine views over large rocks with bizarre shapes.
After crossing the plateau you continue along a path, keeping to the right and descending steadily through thick forest until you arrive at Arcu su Crabiolu (after about 3.5 km from the start of the route); from here you quickly reach the valley via a path that cuts through the forest, first passing by the old forestry barracks (well preserved but now in disuse and unmanned) before returning to the Botanic Garden of Maidopis, which you find on the opposite side to the starting point. When you arrive here you’ll have the chance to see deer feeding in the enclosure; accustomed to humans, they often let visitors get a close look at them.
