The point of interest

The Nuragic complex, located 700 m above sea level in the municipality of Vallermosa, is composed of three Nuragic sacred wells and circular huts from the same period, datable to the late Bronze Age and the Iron Age. In Punic times, the temple of Genna Cantoni was built near the proto-Sardinian sacred area, within the municipality of Iglesias, constructed with calcarenite blocks and with a 7 x 12 m plan.

The site has yielded an Etruscan-made cup, spearheads, and a bronze statuette known as "barbetta" due to its distinctive hairstyle. Remains of ceramics and a coin of Antoninus Pius testify to its frequentation in Roman times.

How to get here

It can be reached via a branch that starts from the D-131 trail, about 800 meters long, which is currently not part of the RES (Hiking Network of Sardinia).
