Genna Muru Mannu - Linas Sheepfold (D-115)
The pathway
Roadbook
The trail starts from the pass in the long ridge that lies on the true right of the Muru Mannu Channel. The ridge marks the border between the territories of Gonnosfanadiga and Domusnovas. A dirt road from Domusnovas ends here. Along this road it is possible to reach the Scoveri locality and from there Arenas, Tinnì and the entire Marganai - Fluminimaggiore area (currently signposted from Scoveri onwards).
It descends again in a northerly direction on a path overgrown with strawberry trees, reaching further down the bank of the Muru Mannu Channel. You are now far upstream of the Muru Mannu waterfall. After fording the small stream, which is often dry in this point, head uphill on a clearly visible old charcoal burners’ mule track on open ground or through sparse strawberry trees. The mule track soon becomes an abandoned forest track, still easy to follow, which continues to climb with some wide bends and a nice view of the stream channel below.
Having reached the top of the slope, the trail continues under dense vegetation and starts descending rapidly. At a clearing, near a dry-stone wall, you will see the Linas sheepfold, the trail’s final destination, now close by. To reach it, the trail makes a wide loop around the head of Rio Linas, reaching a well-maintained dirt road that you must follow to the right, quickly arriving at your destination.
